Job Description:
New Business Development - Outside Sales Representative
**We are specifically seeking someone with experience selling
services to insurance companies.**
The client is looking for an experienced Outside Sales
Representative to provide their expertise in the sales field. In
order to be considered for this opportunity, we require at least 5
years of experience in an Outside Sales role, developing new
clients into long lasting customers.
In addition, this person must have experience and knowledge of the
insurance industry including a strong and extensive network which
can be used to actively grow the business.
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for achieving
his/her assigned sales plan by generating profitable growth. This
will be achieved through the development of new business as well as
the retention and expansion of existing business. Duties revolve
around managing and cultivating existing and new accounts, building
upon long-standing partnerships in order to develop, prospect and
expand relationships. The Outside Sales Representative will travel
nationwide to customer locations to hold meetings, gather
information and train customer staff on site. Pre-sale duties
include preparation of action plans, customized presentations, and
performing pre-call research and analysis. Post-sale duties include
ensuring smooth implementation and account setup, training
customers on processes and use of the product, and ongoing account
maintenance.
Desired Skills and Experience
" 5-7 years of business-to-business sales experience, preferably in
a complex and challenging sales environment within the insurance
services industry
" Proven experience with the development of clients into long
lasting customers
" Previous experience carrying an annual quota with a proven track
record of consistent quota attainment
" Experience prospecting and building a network for new business
opportunities and referrals
" Ability to multi-task and successfully manage multiple accounts
of different sizes
" Ability to establish strong professional relationships through
phone and email communications and on-site visits
" Excellent verbal and written communication skills
" Excellent organizational skills
" High energy with a 'can do' attitude
" Strong competitive drive
" Ability to set and manage priorities
" Computer proficiency, particularly in Word, Excel, Power Point
and Outlook
" Cold call experience
" Contract negotiation skills
" Conflict resolution skills
" Salesforce CRM experience a plus
" Sales training or certification a plus
Resposibilites include
" Develop and grow client database by marketing services
" Maintains contact with all accounts to ensure high levels of
client satisfaction.
" Minimize client concessions by proactively communicating with
account on a regular basis
" Review client agreements and negotiate contracts
" Make phone calls and conduct in-person meetings with all levels
of client hierarchy to promote services and build on existing
relationships
" Make effective use of all marketing capabilities to solidify
market presence
" Follow-up on generated leads
" Participate in RFP processes
" Attend and work booth for at least 1 national conference
yearly
" Position will involve a substantial amount of travel on a
nationwide basis
