Senior Research Associate Position at UT Southwestern Medical
Center
UT Southwestern Medical Center seeks a highly skilled Senior
Research Associate to join Dr. Sun (Xiankai) Lab in the Department
of Radiology. The successful candidate will support the clinical
operations of the Cyclotron and Radiochemistry Program (CRP) and
function as a quality-control and radiochemistry specialist.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality-control (QC) assays, including troubleshooting
for investigational radiopharmaceuticals manufactured by the
cyclotron facility for clinical practice and research.
- Maintain the QC lab instruments and records of CRP's material
supplies according to FDA's Guidance for "PET Drugs - Current Good
Manufacturing Practice (CGMP).
- Develop new QC SOPs for investigational new drug (IND)
applications.
- Participate in the design and development and evaluation of
novel radiotracers.
- Work as a backup to CRP's Regulatory Affairs Officer
Associate.
Requirements
- Ph.D. degree with major coursework in field of assignment and
no experience required.
- Master's degree with major coursework in field of assignment
and five (5) years laboratory experience, including at least two
(2) years at level of Research Associate or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree with major coursework in field of assignment
and six (6) years laboratory experience, including at least two (2)
years at level of Research Associate or equivalent.
Job Duties
- Organize laboratory to which assigned; determine work
assignments of subordinates, advising them as to techniques,
procedures, and equipment to be utilized in solution of work
problems; and review completed work for professional quality and
attainment of desired results.
- Compile and evaluate research data; develop new or revised
techniques and procedures based upon such data.
- Perform or supervise design, development, or adaptation of
equipment or apparatus used in research experiments to obtain
desired results.
- Compile and analyze results of research assignments and submit
to principal investigator.
- Instruct medical students, graduate students, residents, and
other laboratory personnel of lower grade with respect to
techniques, procedures, and equipment utilized in research or
experiments.
- Confers with industrial, governmental, or other professional
groups with respect to progress or results of research
assignment.
- Assist principal investigator and other professional personnel
in preparation of reports and papers for publication, usually
exercising responsibility for writing of segment or phase of report
or paper.
