The Psychiatrist, Primary Care will be an integral member of the founding market team and will assist in the initial launch of the new market.-- The Psychiatrist will serve as a leader for the behavioral health program supporting the needs a panel of a complex Medicaid population, and will provide oversight and clinical guidance to a primary care team.Assess, diagnose, and treat individuals and families with behavioral health conditions, ranging from serious mental illness to substance abuse, or the potential for such conditions, using their full scope of therapeutic skills, including the prescription of medication and administration of psychotherapy, as appropriate.A true patient-centered approach, from a bedside manner that puts patients, caregivers, and team members at ease.



A collaborative team member, effective communicator, and leader of the regional behavioral health team
Experience operating in an integrated behavioral health delivery model


Experience treating the behavioral health needs of the Medicaid population and an understanding of the barriers these patients may face in the local market.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Responsible for coordinating care and treatment of patients with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions


Provide clinical consultation to care center teams, including oversight of psychopharmacology and other behavioral health clinical practices


Collaborate with Inpatient/Outpatient treatment center teams for patient care.


Authorizes, monitors, and directs inpatient psychiatric utilization


Provide oversight and expertise regarding utilization management activities (e.g length of stay in facilities) and support community transitions through inpatient and provider consultation.


Provide medical record/chart review and quality oversight for behavioral health staff (NPs, LISWs)



Work Location & Travel Expectations


Based in local market, with local travel.-- Provides nighttime, weekday or some weekend and holiday call coverage as part of work schedule.



Qualifications




Requires an MD; 5 years of experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Requires current unrestricted medical licensure in applicable state(s). Board certification required if applicable to the duties being performed. Valid prescriptive license required. For-- business units, satisfactory completion of a pre-placement Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position.
